Nel-Sylvia Guzman, Esq.

Nel-Sylvia “Nellie” Guzman is the Deputy Director at The Safe Sisters Circle. Prior to becoming Deputy Director, Nellie provided direct legal representation to The Safe Sisters Circle’s clients in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia for protection order cases and family court matters. Nellie now oversees TSSC’s services and programming, community legal clinic and pro bono partnerships, and works to expand TSSC’s holistic partnerships. Nellie’s legal career started at a local law firm and there she volunteered many pro bono hours with a local domestic violence nonprofit representing survivors in civil protection order hearings and custody matters, as well as, a victim's rights advocate for survivors.

 Nellie received her Bachelor of Arts degree, summa cum laude, in Political Science from West Virginia University, and her Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia School of Law.
