Executive Director

Nel-Sylvia “Nellie” Guzman is the Executive Director at The Safe Sisters Circle. She has been with The Safe Sisters Circle since 2021 working directly with TSSC’s legal program and then moving into other executive roles with the organization. 

Nellie has always been passionate about helping those the system overlooks and ignores. Over her career as an attorney, she has worked on pro bono matters that include, wrongful convictions; representing victims of hate crime; and challenging archaic systems on the local and federal levels. It was through her pro bono work at a local, corporate law firm that Nellie was introduced to working for survivors of domestic violence. 

 Nellie received her Bachelor of Arts degree, summa cum laude, in Political Science from West Virginia University, and her Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia School of Law.
