Brief info

Caitlyn Burnitis serves as a Domestic Violence and Family Law Staff Attorney at the Safe Sisters Circle. She is passionate about providing trauma-informed advocacy for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, and gender-based violence. Prior to joining TSSC, she served as Lead Maryland Attorney at the Amara Legal Center, providing free legal services to survivors of sex trafficking and anyone who has ever been involved in the commercial sex industry. While in law school, Caitlyn founded the Miami Law Alliance Against Human Trafficking and was a member of the Human Rights Clinic, where she worked on addressing systemic issues of gender-based violence. She also was an editor of the University of Miami Race & Social Justice Law Review, where she published a note examining FOSTA-SESTA and its effects on sex workers and trafficking survivors.

Caitlyn earned her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Miami School of Law in 2020 and her Bachelor of Science in Telecommunications from the University of Florida in 2017. She is licensed to practice law in the District of Columbia and the state of Maryland.
